The Supreme Court will consider appeals against the verdict sentencing MP Andriy Odarchenko to 8 years in absentia.

As is known, the High Anti-Corruption Court found Odarchenko guilty of providing illegal benefit. He was sentenced to 8 years of imprisonment with confiscation of all property owned by him and with deprivation of the right to hold a number of positions for a period of 3 years. The Appeals Chamber of the Supreme Anti-Corruption Court left this verdict unchanged. The defense and the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office filed an appeal against the verdict.

Last year, the High Anti-Corruption Court took MP Andriy Odarchenko into custody in absentia and decided to collect from the state revenue 15 million hryvnias of bail, which was paid as a preventive measure. Earlier it became known that Odarchenko fled abroad, crossing the border with Romania near the settlement of Krasnoilsk in Bukovina, where he requested political asylum. He was declared a national and international wanted person .
