The HIgh Anti-Corruption Court has taken Roman Nasirov, the former head of the State Fiscal Service of Ukraine, into custody and increased his bail from UAH 27 million to UAH 40 million, the Anti-Corruption Action Center reports.

The panel of judges – Ihor Strohy, Lesya Fedorak, and Viktor Nogachevsky – partially satisfied the request of the SAPO prosecutor to apply a preventive measure in the form of detention with the alternative of posting bail in the amount of 75 million hryvnias.

The petition was a consequence of Nasirov's mobilization. The consideration lasted for two court sessions. In particular, the court heard the arguments of the prosecutor, who noted that Nasirov's desire to mobilize was only due to the expiration of the term for criminal liability, which expires in less than a year.

In turn, Nasirov and his defense attorneys objected to granting the motion and argued that the motives for voluntary mobilization were "a duty to the state and an obligation."

In addition, the court questioned witnesses who confirmed Nasirov's initiative to find a military unit, his transfer from a combat position to a non-combat position due to the presence of a corresponding conclusion from the Military Commission. At the same time, they noted that Nasirov did not inform them of the need for him to appear in court while serving.

Previously, the High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) decided  to reduce the bail for the former head of the State Fiscal Service Roman Nasirov  from 31 million hryvnias to 27 million hryvnias in the case of abuses in the "gas schemes" of former People's Deputy Oleksandr Onyshchenko.

In addition, the High Anti-Corruption Court  released from custody  the father-in-law of the former head of the State Fiscal Service, Roman Nasirov, the owner of the Altis group of companies, Oleksandr Glimbovsky. He was placed under 24-hour house arrest.
