Court Keeps Director in Custody Over Ukrzaliznytsia Case
The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court has remanded in custody the director of the private company UZelectro, Natalia Koltysheva, whom the NABU and SAPO suspect of involvement in a scheme to embezzle UAH 94.8 million during the purchase of transformers by JSC Ukrzaliznytsia during martial law.
As is known, the Supreme Court of Criminal Appeals took her into custody with the alternative of 9.9 million UAH bail. The suspect's defense attorney filed an appeal against this decision.
The decision of the investigating judge of the High Anti-Corruption Court dated January 1, 2025 on the application of a preventive measure in the form of detention for a period of 60 days to (Koltysheva - ed.), suspected of committing a criminal offense under Part 5 of Article 191 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, shall be left unchanged, and the appeal of the defense attorney shall be dismissed.
As a reminder, Bulgaria previously extradited to Ukraine the director of the private company UZelectro, Natalia Koltysheva, whom the NABU and SAPO suspect of involvement in a scheme to appropriate UAH 94.8 million during the purchase of transformers by JSC Ukrzaliznytsia during martial law.
Earlier, NABU and SAPO detained former advisor to the President's Office Artem Shyl. Later, he and other defendants were informed of the suspicion. According to the investigation, Shyl, officials of JSC "Ukrzaliznytsia" and other accomplices ensured that a private company was identified as a supplier of power transformers at an inflated price. The transformers were purchased in Uzbekistan and delivered to Bulgaria, where they were already purchased by a private company controlled by a citizen of Belarus who often visits Russia.
Later, UZ purchased these transformers at an inflated price, which caused the company 94.8 million UAH in losses. An organized group took possession of these funds and disposed of them at its own discretion.
