In Kharkiv, a 37-year-old surgeon is suspected of organizing a scheme to register fictitious disability for money. According to the SSU, he demanded $8,000 for registering a group III disability without actually undergoing examinations and inpatient treatment.

This was reported by the spokesman for the SSU of the Kharkiv region, Vladyslav Abdula.

It was established that the organizer of the criminal transaction was a 37-year-old surgeon from the city hospital for emergency medical care. For money, the defendant organized the process of medical support for "clients" in specialized medical institutions and diagnostic centers in Kharkiv, and also promised to have the relevant documentation prepared by specialists from expert teams for assessing the daily functioning of a person (formerly MSEC).

— writes Abdullah.

According to him, the surgeon recruited colleagues from other hospitals in the city to implement the scheme. His "clients" were conscripted men who wanted to evade military service and obtain permission to travel abroad.

The organizer assured them that he would help them obtain the necessary medical certificates without actually undergoing examinations and inpatient treatment. To avoid detection, the doctor tried to stretch the process of obtaining fictitious documents for at least six months, and sometimes a year.

— the message says.

Law enforcement officers documented the fact of extortion of 8 thousand US dollars in October 2025 for registration of group III disability. The doctor was detained at his workplace after receiving the last part of the agreed amount - 2.5 thousand US dollars, and was reported on suspicion of abuse of influence with extortion of illegal benefit, writes Abdula. If proven guilty, the doctor faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property. The investigation is ongoing.

We remind you that in Kherson, two National Guardsmen are suspected of extorting $7,000.
