Lutsk psychiatrist fined for selling fake diagnosis image

A psychiatrist in Lutsk was fined 34,000 hryvnias for selling a false diagnosis. The corresponding sentence was passed by the Lutsk City District Court.

Igor Y., who served as the head of department No. 2 of the Volyn Regional Psychiatric Hospital of Lutsk, in early December 2024, accepted 7,600 hryvnias from a citizen for the production of medical documents with a fictitious diagnosis.

With this diagnosis, a man could be considered limitedly fit for military service.

The patient sought medical attention due to his deteriorating psychological condition, but received an offer that would allow him to receive a deferment from mobilization. The man agreed and transferred the funds.

The doctor's actions were qualified under Part 2 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - receiving an unlawful benefit for influencing a decision.

At the court hearing, the accused pleaded guilty, repented, and reported that he had already resigned from his job. The court also took into account that he had no previous convictions, had a number of illnesses, and was a person with a disability of group III.
