The deputy head of the medical advisory commission of one of the hospitals was detained in the Odessa region. For $6,000, he allegedly promised a serviceman that he would be discharged to the reserve due to health reasons, the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Odessa region reported.

According to law enforcement, the deputy head of the medical advisory commission of one of the hospitals in the Podilskyi district offered a local resident to help a soldier he knew get discharged from service due to health reasons. For $6,000, he promised to provide the soldier with medical documents regarding his illnesses.

These documents should have been the basis for the military medical commission to issue a conclusion that the soldier should be released to the reserve. The man was in collusion with currently unidentified officials of the Military Medical Clinical Center of the Southern Region and organized inpatient treatment for the soldier, the police added.

The man was detained and reported on suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This crime is punishable by imprisonment for a term of up to ten years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years.

The court chose a preventive measure for the suspect in the form of detention with the right to post bail in the amount of 908 thousand 400 hryvnias. Other people who may be involved in the crime are currently being identified, the department emphasized.
