Lviv lawyer caught taking bribe for “rear post” image

Employees of the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police, together with the counterintelligence of the SSU, detained lawyer Yuriy Panchuk and his accomplice in Lviv for a bribe of $2,000. According to law enforcement officers, the lawyer promised to arrange for a conscript to serve in the rear for the money. The lawyer himself denies his involvement in the scheme.

In the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police, a lawyer, through his connections, promised to employ a man of mobilization age to serve in the rear units. He estimated his service at $2,000. The client was to transfer the money to his trusted person.

The money transfer took place through an intermediary.

The lawyer and his accomplice were detained by police. As can be seen from the photos released by the police, the detention took place on Shpytalna Street in the center of Lviv. They were charged with abuse of influence (Part 5 of Article 27, Part 3 of Article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). Both were sentenced to preventive measures - detention with the right to post bail. The sanction of the article provides for up to eight years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.

According to ZAXID.NET journalists, the detained person was Lviv lawyer Yuriy Panchuk.

I do not agree with the accusation brought against me, I do not consider myself guilty.

– said Yuriy Panchuk in a comment to ZAXID.NET. He claims that law enforcement officers searched his apartment, car, and workplace, but did not find any money.

I know the person from whom the money was taken, I am acquainted with them, but I have nothing to do with it.

He said that the court set him bail in the amount of 60 thousand UAH, which he paid. He was also suspended from his position as a legal advisor in the military unit.

In addition, the State Bureau of Investigation, together with the Security Service of Ukraine and the Strategic Investigations Department of the National Police, exposed a current and two former Lviv tax officials who organized a mobilization evasion scheme . In exchange for bribes of $3,000-10,000, they helped to issue fake disability certificates.
