Mykolaiv Court Extends Case of College Head Charged with Bribery
In Mykolaiv, the term of procedural obligations of a suspect in a corruption case at an educational institution has been extended. The case concerns bribery and evasion of mobilization through college enrollment.
By decision of the Central District Court of Mykolaiv dated January 16, 2025, the prosecutor's office's motion to extend the term of procedural duties for an employee of the Mykolaiv Professional College of Transport Infrastructure was considered.
The charges relate to Olga Ozerova, the head of the college's internship and advanced training courses. The suspect is accused of creating a corruption scheme involving receiving bribes from applicants.
According to the investigation, the official, using her official position, together with unidentified persons, organized a scheme to extort money from applicants for enrollment in college. Thus, potential conscripts became college applicants and received documents that granted them a deferment from mobilization. In particular, the suspect is charged with extorting and receiving 15 thousand hryvnias for assistance in enrolling one of the applicants in an educational institution. The man additionally paid the official tuition fee. A few days later, he was enrolled in college, and he received a student certificate.
In October 2024, she was notified of suspicion of committing a criminal offense under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obtaining unlawful benefit).
At the trial, the woman denied her guilt, stating that she only provided advice on admission issues. The court chose a preventive measure in the form of detention with the possibility of posting bail in the amount of 151,400 hryvnias.
On January 16, 2025, the court decided to extend the term of the suspect's procedural obligations until March 16, 2025.
Previously, the court remanded in custody the director of the company in the Ukrzaliznytsia case.
