In Ternopil, the head of the TCP was arrested for bribing with fuel coupons
In Ternopil, law enforcement officers detained the head of the Ternopil regional territorial center of procurement (TCC) while receiving a bribe. According to the media, from sources in the investigation, the serviceman accepted coupons for 1,000 liters of diesel fuel in exchange for a promise not to mobilize the man.
The operation was conducted by employees of the State Bureau of Investigation (SBI) and the specialized prosecutor's office in the field of defense of the Western region. The detention took place on Ruska Street, on the territory of the Cathedral of the Nativity of Christ of the OCU, in the evening of October 21. We are talking about Serhiy Yanchetskyi, the head of the TCP, who was stopped by patrolmen during the curfew while driving under the influence of alcohol.
The Ternopil regional TCP confirmed the conduct of investigative actions against one of the managers and noted that physical evidence important for the investigation was seized.
According to the SBI in Lviv, the serviceman demanded a bribe from an agribusinessman who studied full-time at one of the universities of Prykarpattia and had a legal right to deferment from mobilization. Despite this, the head of the TCP stated that he would grant such a postponement only in exchange for coupons for diesel fuel worth about 1.5 thousand dollars.
During the detention, fuel coupons, as well as $13,000 and UAH 73,000 in cash were found in the soldier's car. During the search in the office, they found even more fuel cards for more than 1,000 liters of diesel and gasoline.
The official was charged with suspicion under Part 3 of Art. 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (obtaining unlawful benefit). The sanction of the article provides up to 10 years of imprisonment. The law enforcement officers appealed to the court regarding the selection of a preventive measure and his removal from office.
