HACC extends obligations for ex-Ukrzaliznytsia official

The High Anti-Corruption Court extended the term of office of Roman Zheliznyak, the former head of the production structural unit of the Cherkasy Rail Repair and Mechanical Plant of the branch of the Center for Repair and Operation of Rail Vehicles of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia, until August 23. The specialized anti-corruption prosecutor's office accuses him of embezzlement of funds.
As is known, the anti-corruption court extended Zheliznyak's arrest. An alternative was set at UAH 5 million in bail. Later, the court extended the arrest and last reduced the bail to UAH 1.5 million. These funds were paid and the suspect was released from custody. He was given the following obligations: to appear at the first request; to report any change in his place of residence and place of work; to refrain from communicating with the accused, as well as witnesses; to hand over his foreign passports for safekeeping.
The prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office again asked the court to extend these obligations for another two months.
The prosecutor's motion is granted. The term of the duties assigned to the accused (Zheliznyak) is extended for two months. The term of the duties is set until August 23, 2026 inclusive.
Roman Zheliznyak is a suspect in the EBK database.
NABU and SAPO detained the former head of the Ukrzaliznytsia branch. According to the investigation, during 2021–2022, an organized group took possession of the funds of JSC Ukrzaliznytsia by abusing their official position by officials of the Cherkasy KRMZ branch of the Central Railways of Ukraine. Five members of the organized group were informed of the suspicion.
