The Appeals Chamber of the HACC left unchanged the verdict in the case of an attempt to bribe prosecutors of the Prosecutor General's Office against the former head of the UCP department, Galchenko-Avilov, and his accomplice, Ihor Osypovych.

This was reported by the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court on the Telegram channel.

On August 21, the Appeals Chamber of the HACC completed the consideration of the appeals of the defense against the verdict of the Supreme Court of Justice dated January 3, 2025, by which the former head of one of the departments of the Prosecutor General's Office and another person involved in the case were found guilty of committing a crime related to providing an illegal benefit to an official. Based on the results of the consideration, the panel of judges left the appeals of the defense without satisfaction, and the verdict of the Supreme Court of Justice unchanged

In particular, the court of first instance found the former prosecutor guilty of aiding and abetting in the provision of unlawful benefit, committed by a group of persons in prior conspiracy (Part 5 of Article 27, Part 4 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).

He was sentenced to 6 years and 6 months in prison, with a 3-year disqualification from holding certain positions, and confiscation of $60,100. The court also stripped the defendant of his class rank of senior justice advisor.

Another defendant, Igor Osypovych, was found guilty of incitement to provide unlawful benefit, committed by a group of persons in prior conspiracy (Part 4 of Article 27, Part 4 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine), and was sentenced to 6 years of imprisonment with confiscation of 1/2 of his property.

The decision entered into force from the moment of its announcement and can be appealed to the Criminal Court of Cassation within the Supreme Court.
