HACC sentences Rivne regional council deputy head

The High Anti-Corruption Court sentenced Deputy Chairman of the Rivne Regional Council Serhiy Svystaliuk to 9 years in prison, finding him guilty of receiving undue advantage and abuse of influence.
According to the court's decision, Svystaluk was sentenced to 9 years in prison. He was also banned from holding positions related to the performance of the functions of a local government representative, either on a permanent or temporary basis or under special authority, for 3 years.
In addition, the court ordered the confiscation of part of the property - 500 thousand hryvnias.
Until the verdict becomes final, the accused will remain on bail and must fulfill the procedural obligations determined by the court. In particular, he must:
· to appear before the court upon every request,
· report a change of residence or work,
· submit passports for travel abroad and other documents that give the right to cross the state border,
· not to leave the territory of Ukraine without the permission of the court.
The verdict can be appealed within 30 days through the High Anti-Corruption Court to the Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court.
