The High Council of Justice has dismissed Valentyn Zaveryukha, a judge of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi City District Court in the Odessa region. He is suspected of carrying out corruption schemes that helped men avoid mobilization.

This was reported on April 14 by the High Council of Justice (HCJ) on its official website.

According to the report, the judge was dismissed on the basis of Clause 3, Part 6, Article 126 of the Constitution of Ukraine. This provision provides for the dismissal of a judge in the event of a significant disciplinary offense, gross or systematic neglect of duties, or actions that discredit the title of a judge or undermine the authority of justice.

Earlier, the High Council of Justice granted the request of the head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office to keep Zaveryukha in custody. On February 26, according to the High Council of Justice, bail in the amount of three million hryvnias was applied to him, but he did not pay it.

The disciplinary case against former judge of the Bilhorod-Dnistrovskyi City District Court, Valentyn Zaveryukha, has been ongoing since October 2024. According to the investigation, he helped men who were conscripted to the military obtain independent custody of their children in order to avoid mobilization and travel abroad. Each such service cost $3,500.

In December 2024, Zaveryukha tried to be released from the disciplinary case due to the fact that he began serving in the Armed Forces of Ukraine. But the High Council of Justice rejected this request, and on January 13, the judge was suspended from his duties.

Valentyn Zaveryukha is a suspect in the EBK database.
