Appeals court upholds 9-year sentence for former Ternopil regional council head

The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court upheld the verdict sentencing former Chairman of the Ternopil Regional Council Mykhailo Holovko to 9 years in prison for receiving unlawful benefits and illegal storage of ammunition.
This was reported by the press service of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office.
As is known, the anti-corruption court found the former head of the Ternopil regional council, Golovka, guilty. He was sentenced to 9 years in prison with confiscation of property. The defendant's defense attorney filed an appeal.
The AC of the High Anti-Corruption Court supported the position of the prosecutor of the SAPO and left the punishment of the former head of the Ternopil Regional Council M. Golovka unchanged. Thus, Golovka was finally found guilty of committing a crime under Part 4 of Article 368 and Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. He was sentenced to 9 years of imprisonment with deprivation of the right to hold positions in state and local government bodies, except for elected ones, for a period of 3 years, with confiscation of all property belonging to him by right of ownership

Earlier, NABU and SAPO reported suspicions of false declarations to the former head of the Ternopil regional council, Golovka. According to the investigation, he did not indicate in his declarations for 2022-2023 an apartment with an area of 201.9 sq. m belonging to his mother, which he used together with family members, non-residential premises (parking space, car wash and storage room) belonging to family members, as well as funds in a bank account.
