A deputy of one of the city councils in Chernivtsi district is suspected of receiving a bribe for helping a man evade mobilization. First, he signed a certificate stating that the man was taking care of his sick grandfather, and then offered him, for an additional fee, to obtain a conclusion from the State Medical Commission that his mother was terminally ill.

This was reported on Facebook by the regional department of the Security Service of Ukraine.

According to the service, the deputy is also the head of the children's service in one of the settlements of the Chernivtsi district. As a deputy, he was part of a special commission that confirmed that men constantly care for sick relatives.

Law enforcement officers recorded that last November, the deputy, together with two other members of the commission, signed a certificate for 6,000 hryvnias stating that one of the men was taking care of his 84-year-old grandfather. However, a few days later, the deputy suggested that the man also draw up a fictitious conclusion from the State Medical Board stating that his mother had an incurable disease. He said that it would cost 3,500 dollars.

According to the investigation, in early May, the deputy handed the man a conclusion about this and said that the commission had to sign another act and that it would cost another $600. Otherwise, there would be no postponement from mobilization.

Law enforcement officers detained the deputy at the city council building after receiving the last part of the money. He was charged with two counts of receiving a bribe by an official and influencing the decisions of people performing state functions.

Under one of the articles, he faces 5 to 10 years in prison with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions for three years. Under the second, he faces 3 to 8 years with confiscation of property.

According to the National Police, the deputy was given a preventive measure with the possibility of posting bail.

Recall, the appeal arrested former People's Deputy Logvinsky in absentia.
