Khmelnytskyi RSA official suspected of extorting bribe

In Khmelnytskyi region, police have exposed an official of the regional state administration extorting a bribe from a transport entrepreneur. This was reported by the National Police of the region and the Prosecutor General's Office.
Investigators found that the detained head of one of the departments of the Khmelnytskyi Regional State Administration demanded a bribe of $2,200 from a transport entrepreneur for changing the schedule of the intercity bus route between Kamianets-Podilskyi and Khmelnytskyi, as well as for recognizing him as the winner of a competition to service the route. The official received the bribe in two parts: $1,000 and $1.2 thousand.
An official, while at his workplace in the administrative building of the Khmelnytskyi Regional State Administration, received a stipulated amount of illegal benefit from an entrepreneur who was acting under the control of law enforcement agencies during a personal meeting. The official was detained on the same day
After the official was detained, law enforcement officers searched his workplace and home. During the investigation, a bribe was seized from the official, as well as over 92 thousand dollars, 11 thousand euros, and more than 1.6 million UAH. Law enforcement officers note that the seized amounts "significantly exceed the official's declared income."
An official of the Khmelnytskyi Regional State Administration was charged with accepting a bribe, combined with extortion (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The suspect faces up to 10 years in prison and confiscation of property. The court will soon choose a preventive measure for him.
We also previously wrote that the head of the regional department of the State Service for Food and Consumer Protection in the Kirovohrad region is suspected of bribery. According to investigators, he extorted money from exporters of agricultural products.
In addition, the CEO of one of Kyiv's municipal enterprises was detained on suspicion of bribery. According to the case materials, he demanded UAH 1.2 million for signing a contract with a company that won a tender for UAH 8.29 million to supply equipment to the capital's schools.
