Official Suspected of Misappropriating Soldiers’ Payments
In the Odessa region, the State Bureau of Investigation reported suspicions against a military unit official, whose negligence led to the misappropriation of more than UAH 2 million in payments to missing soldiers.
SBI employees, in cooperation with the National Police and the Security Service of Ukraine, reported suspicions to the head of the financial and economic service of one of the military units in the Odessa region, who admitted to embezzling UAH 2.3 million from a deposit account for missing soldiers.
According to the State Bureau of Investigation, for a year, the accountant indicated the bank account number of his acquaintance in the documentation for the payment of cash benefits. His boss did not check the data and signed the documents on the transfer of money.
Thus, the accountant illegally received UAH 2.3 million intended for payments to military personnel.
The police have filed an indictment against the accountant. The suspect is currently in custody. A civil lawsuit has been filed to recover damages.
We will remind, the city council deputy is suspected of supplying low-quality uniforms to the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
