Head of MSEC Detained in Kirovohrad Region for Bribery
The Security Service of Ukraine and investigators of the National Police have exposed the head of one of the inter-district centers of MSEС in Kirovohrad Oblast, who is also an ex-deputy of the city council, in corruption schemes, the SЫU and the Prosecutor General's Office report.
According to the media, the detained person is Iryna Kornilova, the head of the Oleksandriysk inter-district MSEС, a deputy of the city council, elected in the elections of deputies of local councils on October 25, 2020 from the political party "European Solidarity".
However, in a comment to journalists, the press service of "EU" stated that on September 13, 2024, Kornilova resigned as a deputy, and on September 15, she was expelled from the party.
According to the investigation, the official demanded 2,000 dollars from the wounded soldier of the Armed Forces of Ukraine for the lifelong establishment of the second disability group. As the law enforcement officers established, the soldier was seriously wounded during the fighting for Chasiv Yar in the spring of 2023. Then fragments of a Russian guided aerial bomb injured a soldier, after which the left side of his body was paralyzed.
At the same time, the head of the MSEС still demanded a bribe from the military for registration of the status. The law enforcement officers documented the criminal activity of the official and arrested her "red handed" when she received the entire amount of the bribe, the special service notes.
So far, she has been informed about the suspicion of accepting an offer, promise or receiving an illegal benefit by an official. The issue of selecting a preventive measure for her is being resolved.
Earlier in Kyiv, the deputy chief doctor of the Central Medical and Social Expert Commission (MSEC) of the Ministry of Health was detained while accepting a bribe . According to the investigation, the official promised for $2,000 to help the conscript get a II group disability, which would allow him to avoid mobilization and go abroad.
We will remind you that at the end of October, the President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelenskyi, signed a decree that puts into effect the decision to liquidate all medical and social expert commissions (MSEC) and prosecute officials suspected of corruption schemes. The liquidation of MSEC will begin on December 31, 2024 after the adoption of the relevant draft law.
