Law enforcement officers detained and served a suspect with the head of the "UDAR Vitali Klitschko" party in the Odessa region, Oleksandr Sukhanov, who demanded $1 million for a decision to lease land on the embankment in Natalka Park.

The SBU reports that Sukhanov guaranteed that the entrepreneur would be leased a plot of land in a recreational area of Kyiv near the Dnipro River, which is on the balance sheet of the Kyiv community. The Prosecutor General's Office noted that this is a boat station located in the coastal zone in the Obolonsky district of Kyiv in the Natalka park.

As a result of comprehensive measures, the head of one of the regional branches of a well-known party was detained "on the spot" for demanding a bribe of 1 million US dollars from a private entrepreneur. According to the case materials, in exchange for this amount, the politician promised to "resolve the land issue" that the businessman had with officials of the Kyiv City State Administration

— noted the SBU.

The businessman had already tried to obtain permission from the Kyiv City State Administration officially, but he was refused, citing artificially created bureaucratic obstacles.

Then a politician emerged as the head of a private company, posing as a lawyer and offering to rent the plot in exchange for a bribe of $1 million.

During the meetings, Sukhanov reported that he had connections in the Kyiv City Council and would be able to help with the lease of a 0.5 hectare land plot for a period of 25 years.

For this amount, he "guaranteed" to agree on the land issue in the relevant commission and during meetings of the Kyiv City Council.

Law enforcement officers detained a politician-lawyer in Kyiv "red-handed" when he was handed $900,000 in "advance payments". The detainee was informed of suspicion under Part 5 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (fraud committed on a particularly large scale or by an organized group). The sanction of the article provides for a penalty of up to 12 years in prison.
