Kyiv City State Administration official detained over $3,000 bribe
The Metropolitan Police detained the head of the structural unit of the "Management Company for the Maintenance of the Housing Fund of the Solomyansky District" and his accomplice for extorting $3,000 from an entrepreneur in exchange for renting a communal space with an area of over 140 square meters.
According to the investigation, for the agreed amount, the suspect promised to provide the entrepreneur with an advantage in the competitive procedure for renting premises in the Solomiansky district of Kyiv. To receive the bribe, the official involved his acquaintance, who acted as an intermediary.
Law enforcement officers detained both perpetrators while transferring part of the bribe under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators under the procedural guidance of the Solomyansk District Prosecutor's Office informed the detainees of suspicion under Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine - receiving unlawful benefit by an official in a prior conspiracy. The sanction of the article provides for up to 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property and a ban on holding certain positions.
