Police officers, together with the Security Service of Ukraine, exposed the former deputy director of the Western Ukrainian Specialized Children's Medical Center, Zinovy Ivaskevych, for abuses during the purchase of baby food worth almost UAH 900,000.

As reported on Tuesday, February 3, in the Lviv region prosecutor's office, during the 2020-2022 years, during the Covid-19 pandemic, an official, exceeding his authority, personally signed a number of contracts on behalf of the institution's director. The agreements concerned the purchase of special food products, vital for children with congenital metabolic disorders.

The specified goods were subject to preferential taxation during the pandemic and could be purchased without paying VAT. Despite this, the deputy director concluded agreements in which the cost of the purchased products was burdened with the appropriate tax. As a result, the medical center unjustifiably transferred funds to two suppliers that were not subject to payment.

– the prosecutor's office said in a statement.

As a result, the hospital suffered losses of almost UAH 900,000.
