HACC returned passport to suspect in State Service case

The High Anti-Corruption Court returned the passport, but extended the validity of the remaining duties assigned to businessman Roman Koval until May 11. NABU and SAPO suspect him of organizing the embezzlement of over UAH 62 million during the procurement of the State Special Communications Service, where one of the suspects is the former head of the service, Yuriy Shchyhol.
This decision was made by the Supreme Court of Ukraine.
As is known, the anti-corruption court took into custody the organizer of the case of the former head of the State Special Communications Service Yuriy Shchyhol, businessman Roman Koval. He was given the following obligations: to appear at every request; not to leave Ukraine without permission; to report any change of his place of residence and/or place of work; to refrain from communicating with witnesses and to hand over his foreign passports.
The SAPO prosecutor once again requested to extend their validity for another two months. However, the judge decided to return Koval's passport, since it allegedly prevents him from concluding foreign economic contracts. At the same time, the suspect is still obliged not to leave Ukraine without permission.
The motion to extend the term of the duties assigned to the suspect (Koval) is partially granted. The suspect's term of duties is extended for two months - until May 11, 2025.
Let us remind you that Yuriy Shchygol is a person involved in the EBK base.
It also became known earlier that the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office will refer the case to court after July 15 on suspicion of the former head of the State Service for Special Communications and Information Protection Yuriy Shchyhol, his former deputy Viktory Zhora and others in embezzling state funds in the amount of over UAH 62 million.
