HACC Acquits Ex-Head of Children’s Services in Kyiv Region
The Supreme Anti-Corruption Court acquitted the former head of the Service for Children and Family Affairs of the Kyiv Regional State Administration, Serhiy Andriyash, due to the absence of elements of a crime in his actions.
This verdict was passed by a panel of judges consisting of presiding judge Oleg Fedorov, judges Larisa Zadorozhnaya and Yaroslav Shkodin, media reports.
As is known, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office accuses Andriyash of abuse of office. According to the prosecution, Andriyash, instead of directing funds allocated by the European Union to the arrangement of social housing for internally displaced persons, directed them to the modernization of private real estate. The case involved the overhaul of a non-residential building in the village of Karapysh, Myronivskyi district, Kyiv region, owned by Agrosvit LLC.
After that, the specified premises did not pass into municipal or state ownership. Moreover, part of this premises housed a children's health and recreation facility for children "Zoryany", which was also renovated at state expense. Andriyash's relatives were employed in this facility, namely: his son, daughter and son-in-law. Already during the investigation, the property was returned to municipal/state ownership.
Andriyash himself did not admit his guilt in the crime he was accused of and indicated that he had not committed any criminal offense. "(Andriyash Serhiy Petrovych - ed.) to be found not guilty of committing a criminal offense, provided for in Part 2 of Article 364 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and to be acquitted due to the absence of elements of a criminal offense in his actions
According to "Word and Deed", the SAPO will appeal this verdict.
We will remind, back in 2018, the Prosecutor General's Office of Ukraine transferred Andriyash's case to the NABU. After which, NABU detectives completed the investigation into the case. In 2019, the SAPO referred it to the Pecherskyi District Court of Kyiv. After the VAKS began its work, the proceedings were transferred there.
It was previously reported that the former head of the Kyiv City Police is suspected of negligence.
We also wrote that a French businessman abandoned the project because of bribes.
