HACC sentences ex-Defense Ministry official Haiduk to 4 years

The High Anti-Corruption Court (HACC) has approved a plea agreement under which the former acting head of one of the central departments of the Ministry of Defense pleaded guilty to bribery. He was sentenced to 4 years in prison, the SAPO press service reported.
According to media reports, this is the former acting head of the Central Territorial Department of Capital Construction of the Ministry of Defense, Vitaliy Haiduk.
As noted, this is the first agreement in the practice of the SAPO, for which the court imposed a real punishment - 4 years in prison. According to the investigation, the official received a lot of money, promising to help a certain company win a competition for the development of a land plot in the Svyatoshynskyi district of Kyiv. This land was to be used for the construction of housing for military personnel and their families. For two similar schemes, he was paid from 1 to 1.3 million US dollars.
The court found him guilty of receiving a large bribe and confiscated all his property. The man was also deprived of the right to work in state and municipal positions related to management or administrative functions for 2 years. He will remain in custody until the verdict comes into force.
Vitaliy Gaiduk is a suspect in the EBK database.
Recall, at the end of February, the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office reported a new suspicion to the former temporary acting head of one of the Central Territorial Departments of the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine. According to the investigation, Haiduk, in exchange for a monetary reward, was supposed to ensure the victory of a previously determined participant in the competition for the development of a land plot in the Sviatoshynskyi district of the capital. The amount of this reward was reduced from 1.1 million to 690 thousand dollars during the negotiations.
