HACC sentences Odesa judge Saltan to six years

The High Anti-Corruption Court has sentenced Lyudmila Saltan, a judge of the Kyiv District Court of Odessa, to six years in prison. The woman was found guilty of bribery. The verdict was brought to the attention of Slidstvo.Info.
On Friday, March 6, the HACC found Lyudmila Saltan guilty of receiving a $4,000 bribe. She was sentenced to six years in prison and banned from holding public office for three years. In addition, the HACC ruled to partially confiscate the convict's property. This includes a house with an area of 451.4 m² located in the Odessa region and an AUDI Q8 car. The verdict can be appealed within 30 days.
Lyudmila Saltan demanded a bribe of $4,000 from the plaintiff for a decision in his favor. This involves collecting $14,200 and UAH 15,000 from the defendant. In addition, the judge emphasized that the money must be paid urgently, since she plans to go on vacation. However, the plaintiff filed a complaint with the NABU, and on March 29, 2023, the judge was detained while receiving money and was suspected of bribery (Part 3 of Article 368 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
In September 2024, Lyudmila Saltan was mobilized to the Armed Forces of Ukraine, she was appointed to the position of a reserve sailor of the reserve company in the 36th separate marine brigade. However, a month later it became known that the woman was serving in another military unit. In December 2024, the High Council of Justice received a letter notifying her that on November 27 of the same year, Saltan appeared on duty in a state of alcoholic intoxication, so a corresponding protocol was drawn up against her on the grounds of an administrative offense, provided for in Part 3 of Article 172-20 of the Code of Administrative Offenses ("Drinking alcoholic or low-alcohol beverages or using narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues").
On January 25, 2025, the Malinovsky District Court of Odessa imposed a fine on Saltan for being on duty while intoxicated - 1 thousand untaxed minimum incomes of citizens, that is, 17 thousand UAH.
