HACC Lowers Bail for Shchyhol, Zhora of SSCS

The High Anti-Corruption Court reduced the bail amount set as a preventive measure for the former head of the State Special Communications Service and Information Protection, Yuriy Shchyhol, from UAH 20 million to UAH 18 million in the case of embezzlement of state funds in the amount of over UAH 62 million. As is known, the Anti-Corruption Court arrested Shchyhol with the alternative of UAH 25 million in bail. These funds were deposited and he was released from the pre-trial detention center. On July 12, 2024, the bail was reduced to UAH 20 million. Later, Shchyhol's defense attorney filed another motion to reduce the bail.
The motion is partially granted. The preventive measure in the form of bail is to be changed in terms of the amount of bail, namely, to reduce the amount of bail for the suspect (Shchygol – ed.) from UAH 20,000,000 to UAH 18,000,000.
Also, on May 21, the Supreme Court reduced the bail from UAH 10 million to UAH 9 million set for former Deputy Head of the State Special Communications Service Viktor Zhora.
Yuriy Shchyhol and Viktor Zhora are suspects in the EBK database.
As a reminder, NABU and SAPO reported suspicions to the head of the State Special Communications Service Yuriy Shchyhol, his deputy and others of embezzlement of state funds in the amount of over 62 million UAH. According to the investigation, in 2020, the owner of a group of companies, in collusion with the management of the State Special Communications Service, developed a scheme to embezzle budget funds allocated for the purchase of equipment and software.
