Supreme Court Denies Review of Onyshchenko’s Overturned Verdict image

The Supreme Court refused to consider the appeal of the head of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office, Oleksandr Klymenko, against the decision to overturn the verdict that found former MP Oleksandr Onyshchenko and manager Olena Pavlenko guilty.

As is known, the anti-corruption court sentenced Onyshchenko in absentia to 15 years in prison, and Pavlenko to 12 years. They were banned from holding certain positions for 3 years and all property was confiscated. The judges also partially satisfied the civil lawsuit and recovered UAH 536.65 million from Onyshchenko and Pavlenko. The Appeals Chamber of the HACC overturned this verdict and ordered a retrial. One of the grounds for the overturn was the separate consideration of Onyshchenko's case from the charges against Postny and other accomplices.

The head of the SAPO filed a cassation appeal against this decision.

– the decision states.

Previously, the HACC refused to merge the criminal proceedings against former MP Oleksandr Onyshchenko and financial manager Olena Pavlenko with the case of co-organizer Valeriy Postny and others for misappropriation of funds from JSC Ukrgazvydobuvannya.

In addition, the High Anti-Corruption Court acquitted the judge of the Commercial Court of Kharkiv Region, Tetyana Denisyuk, of charges of abuse related to the gas case of former MP Oleksandr Onyshchenko.
