Ex-MP Lanyo Freed from Bracelet, Obligations Extended

The higher anti-corruption court decided to remove the electronic bracelet from the former People's Deputy and head of the Mukachevo District Council of Zakarpattia Oblast Mykhailo Lanyo, but extended other duties until November 25. NABU and SAP suspect Lanyo of organizing abuses in the amount of UAH 75 million during the sale of the territory of the "Avangard" stadium in Mukachevo.

Earlier, the anti-corruption court arrested Lanyo, establishing the possibility of release on bail in the amount of UAH 30 million, which was deposited. Lanyo was also ordered to adhere to certain restrictions, including not leaving the Zakarpattia region without permission, reporting a change of residence, avoiding communication with suspects and witnesses, handing in foreign passports and wearing an electronic bracelet.

The SAP prosecutor requested an extension of all obligations for two months, but the court partially granted his request, leaving the obligations in force until November 25, with the exception of the electronic bracelet.

NABU and SAP detained the mayor of Mukachevo, Andriy Baloga, and former People's Deputy Mykhailo Lanyo. According to the investigation, the mayor of Mukachevo secured the adoption at the city council session of the decision to sell the plot at an almost 9 times lower price to a private company, the actual controller of which is the head of the district council, former People's Deputy Mykhailo Lanyo.

The basis for this was an expert monetary assessment with an understated value of the plot, for which the owners of the appraising company were given a bribe. As a result of such arrangements, land with a market value of UAH 84.6 million was sold for only UAH 9.6 million.

Despite such a meager price, the mayor made a personal decision and granted the company a 6-month installment payment. Losses to the territorial community amount to UAH 74.9 million.

We previously wrote that the High Anti-Corruption Court extended until December 10 the term of office of the suspended Deputy Chairman of the Zaporizhzhya Regional Council Vladyslav Kutsenko. NABU and SAP suspect him of providing over UAH 650,000 in illegal benefits to the director of the Regional Center for Emergency Medical Aid and Disaster Medicine.
