HACC Begins Debates in Case of Fugitive MP Odarchenko image

The higher anti-corruption court has moved to the stage of debate in the case on the accusation of People's Deputy Andriy Odarchenko in providing an illegal benefit. The prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office is asking for 10 years in prison with confiscation of property.

This was reported by the SAP press service, without mentioning the name of the person involved.

According to information in the mass media, it is about Odarchenko, who fled abroad.

In the court session, the SAP prosecutor spoke in the debate. During his speech, the prosecutor emphasized the completeness of the collected evidence, drew the court's attention to the absence of the accused in the territory of Ukraine and asked the court to find the person guilty of the crime provided for in part 4 of Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and impose a penalty of 10 years of imprisonment with confiscation of property and deprivation of the right to hold certain positions. The next court session, at which the defense will continue its presentation, is scheduled for November 13, 2024

We will remind, the prosecutor of the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor's Office stated that, according to operational information, People's Deputy Andriy Odarchenko fled abroad. That is why he was declared a national and international wanted man .

Later it turned out that the people's deputy illegally crossed the border in the Krasnoilsk settlement of Chernivtsi region and asked for asylum in Romania.

Also, HACC arrested People's Deputy Odarchenko in absentia and confiscated his bail.

Subsequently, Odarchenko appeared at the meeting of the High Anti-Corruption Court via video link and stated that he was forced to leave the territory of Ukraine allegedly "due to danger to his health".
