Court Requests Data on Ex-Prosecutor Varakin’s Service

The Appeals Chamber of the High Anti-Corruption Court has asked military structures to provide information regarding the participation of mobilized former deputy prosecutor of the Kirovohrad region, Oleksiy Varakin, in hostilities.
As is known, the High Anti-Corruption Court found former deputy prosecutor of Kirovohrad region Oleksiy Varakin guilty of offering and providing illegal benefits. He was sentenced to 6 years in prison with confiscation of half of his property and deprivation of the rank of senior advisor of justice. The court also banned him from holding certain positions for 3 years after imprisonment.
The verdict was appealed. Later, Varakin was mobilized and the hearing of his case was suspended. However, the SAPO prosecutor asked the court to find out whether the accused was participating in hostilities.
The prosecutor's request is partially granted. To request from the military unit, the Territorial Defense Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, the Unmanned Systems Forces Command of the Armed Forces of Ukraine information, documents and data indicating direct participation (of Varakin) in measures necessary to ensure the defense of Ukraine
